Join us for a musical celebration of the New Year with a festive programme of Italian Baroque Concertos and other works.
Corelli’s Christmas Concerto is a superb masterpiece by this early Baroque composer and an essential part of any Italian musical celebration of the festive season. The final Pastorale evokes the shepherds’ adoration of the Christ-child in music of exquisite tenderness and simplicity. We are fortunate in having two outstanding cellists who play regularly in our orchestra - Ann-Isabel Meyer and Jennifer Janse. It will be a pleasure to hear them combine in Vivaldi’s fine Concerto in G minor. The programme will also feature one of the hilarious early string sonatas by the young Rossini, Puccini’s poignant miniature I Crisantemi and a charming sonata for organ by the 18th century Venetian master Pescetti.
Tickets: £22 (reserved), £16 (reserved), £11 (unreserved), £5 (students)
