It is with great regret I must inform you that all events in the upcoming Amersham Festival of Music have been cancelled. Following the Prime Minister's statement and the current advice about COVID-19 I'm sure you will agree that we had no choice.
We would like to assure ticket holders that everyone is entitled to a refund. If you have booked directly with us, we will contact you to arrange the refund. If you have booked through our online booking agent TicketSource, your booking(s) will be cancelled and you will automatically receive a refund of all tickets in full. TicketSource are very generously waiving their fees; they will process refunds as quickly as they can, but I’m sure you will appreciate that they are very busy at the moment, so refunds may not be immediate.
Planning a festival like ours obviously requires considerable expenditure in advance e.g. printing of brochures and deposits for venues. As a charity this will have an impact on our reserves. In addition we are concerned for the musicians who were scheduled to perform for us. Most of them are freelance performers and the loss of income will be dramatic. They have already given a lot of time to rehearsing for the Festival. The Trustees feel they have a duty of care for our community of musicians who have provided so much pleasure over the years and will continue to do so in the years to come. We are trying to give them some help.
Amersham Festival Society is a registered charity and if you felt able to donate your refunded ticket money or make any donation as a tax deductible gift this would help us enormously with costs already incurred and would also help us to support our community of musicians.
If you would like to help in this way please
make a bank transfer to Amersham Festival Society sort code 40-52-40 Account No. 00010308 using your surname followed by your initials and the word “donation” as a reference
or send a cheque (payable to Amersham Festival Society) to our Treasurer: Mr J Pegler, Melbury House, Lincoln Road, Chalfont St Peter. SL9 9QT
and, if you pay tax, fill in a Gift Aid form - if you have not done so already - and send it to the above address or by email to
Over the years Amersham Festival has developed a real sense of community. We send you all our good wishes and we hope that our Friends and audience members will keep themselves safe and healthy and follow Government guidance.
Every cloud has a silver lining. The current crisis has caused us to think about the programme of events that we would like to present when things return to normal. We will certainly reschedule the opera and also have some exciting new ideas. We plan to be back with you as soon as possible!
