Join us for a musical celebration of the New Year with a festive programme of Italian Baroque Concertos and other works. We are fortunate in having two splendid oboists in our Festival Chamber Orchestra, Christopher Hooker and Claire Philpot and It will be a great pleasure to hear them collaborate in fine Concertos for Two Oboes by Albinoni and Vivaldi.

 

Corelli’s Christmas Concerto is a superb masterpiece by this early baroque composer and an essential part of any Italian musical celebration of the festive season. The final Pastorale evokes the shepherds’ adoration of the Christ Child in music of exquisite tenderness and simplicity.

 

Our principal cellist, Ann-Isabel Meyer will play one of Vivaldi’s elegant and expressive cello concertos and the programme will also feature one of the hilarious early string sonatas by the young Rossini, and Puccini’s poignant miniature Crisantemi.
