Concerteenies - The Big Dreaming

Saturday, 12th December 2026 - 2:00pm

Join Concerteenies for the musical story of Michael Rosen's ‘The Big Dreaming’, ideal for young children and their families, siblings welcome! NB there are two performances - 11am (this one) and 2pm.

‘The Cold is coming, and it's time for Big Bear and Little Bear to get ready for the Big Sleep: for bears sleep all winter long, and wake up in the spring.  But Little Bear is worried.  What if they run out of dreams during the Big Sleep?  And so, Little Bear sets out bravely to find enough dreams to see them through the long winter.  On his journey, he discovers dreams of happiness; dreams of homecoming; and dreams of hope.  But with the Cold approaching fast, will Little Bear make it back home in time for the Big Dreaming?'

Pianist Annabelle Lawson and narrator Polly Ives combine new music composed by award-winning Paul Rissmann, digital animations by Vic Craven, and this new book written by Michael Rosen and illustrated by Daniel Egnéus.  With songs and actions to join in with and a relaxed and friendly environment, this is a perfect introduction to music, animation and storytelling.

The concert also includes Chopin’s 'Minute Waltz', Florence Price’s 'Ticklin’ Toes' and 'Hushabye' Mountain by Sherman and Sherman.
The Big Dreaming is written by Michael Rosen, illustrated by Daniel Egnéus, and published by Bloomsbury Children’s Books.

After the concert, join the team for creative activities based on the story, including 'Make a Dreamcatcher'.

In the ‘Big Dreaming’ musical story there are some songs and actions that you can join in with... why not have a sneaky peak here before the day with this brilliant 'Intro Film' from narrator Polly Ives and creative practitioner Sarah Carroll.  https://youtu.be/kVEBnoQXX7E
