Our Committee

Claire joined the Committee in 2022.  She holds a number of other Trustee roles and spent nearly 20 years working in procurement and leadership roles within a large multi-national corporation.

Although she has no personal musical abilities she is inspired by the creative arts and with 3 school aged children is particularly passionate about high quality arts and music being available locally for all to enjoy.

Nick joined the Committee having retired from a varied career as a management consultant and business leader.  He has become the Treasurer and so takes care of the day to day finances of the society and is responsible for looking after the society’s reserves in consultation with the other Trustees.

Nick and his family have lived in Amersham for over 30 years and he sings with the South Bucks Choral Society.

Hilary worked in the film and television industry for many years spending the last thirty years of her career at the National Film and Television School in Beaconsfield training future generations of film makers.

Hilary is also a music and theatre lover, and lives in Gerrards Cross.

Lesley joined the committee in 2020.  She is a retired speech and language therapist, university lecturer and author who specialised in the diagnosis and treatment of clinical voice disorders, including those of singers.

Lesley started to learn the piano after her retirement and continues to take ballet classes.

Iuliana works in the NHS in a communication and engagement role, where she helps foster meaningful engagement between healthcare services, people and communities.  She joined the Amersham Festival of Music as an usher volunteer in June 2024 and recently became the Friends of the Festival Secretary bringing enthusiasm and dedication to support our membership programme.

She is passionate about high quality music and committed to the Amersham community.  Iuliana is delighted to contribute to an organisation that celebrates creativity, culture, inclusion and education.

Hilary joined the committee in 2023.  After careers in Finance and Modern and Classical Languages, she is now actively involved in leading local U3A Italian clubs.  A lifelong keen music lover, Hilary sings with the leading all-female barbershop chorus, Amersham A Cappella.

Gill started singing a few years ago, and loves being in South Bucks Choral Society.  She loves cooking, too, so she's very pleased to be helping the Festival in this way.  Her other favourite activities are gardening, walking, exploring London, and seeing her family.

Carl joined Amersham Festival of Music in December 2024 and provides support in bookkeeping and finance.  He has had a number of roles in finance and general management in multinationals in the UK, USA and Continental Europe.

The family relocated to Gerrards Cross in 1999.  He is a member of the Seer Green Singers choir.

Ian took over care of the Festival website in 2022 having had experience of several major IT projects during his career in project management.  He finds that maintaining a website is a good source of mental stimulation during retirement.

Being a child of the '70s his favourite artistes tend not to play chamber music, but he does appreciate the breadth of the Festival's concerts.  He has fallen in love with his saxophone, which he started to learn during lockdown, and spends much time looking longingly at it trying to work out how it operates.
