We open the winter series of concerts with a programme of wonderful chamber music for wind instruments and piano, ending with a great masterpiece by Mozart – the Quintet for Piano and Wind, first performed, along with two new piano concertos, in Vienna in 1784. Mozart wrote to his father 'It was the Quintet which called forth the greatest applause; I myself consider it to be the best work I have ever composed…. How I wish you could have heard it!'
Iain Ledingham will be joined by four principal players from our chamber orchestra who are all distinguished and very talented soloists.
Tickets: £25 (unreserved) £5 (students)
