An opportunity to hear some rarely performed works.  Haydn’s Symphony 'La Passione' is a dark and tragic work, of brooding intensity.  Tamsin Rowlinson, our much-esteemed principal bassoonist, will join the orchestra to play Mozart’s delightful Bassoon Concerto, a work of great charm and genial good humour.  Tamsin has played with some of the world’s finest orchestras including the London Philharmonic and the Royal Philharmonic.

Haydn’s Symphony No. 55, popularly known as Der Schulmeister (The Schoolmaster), was written in 1774 for the Esterhazy court.  It is a work rich in surprises and abounding in the wit and inventiveness for which Haydn is so much admired.  We end with the finest of Mozart’s early symphonies, No. 29 in A major.  The virtuosic Finale will bring the concert to an exhilarating conclusion.

Tickets:   £30 (premium seats, reserved)   £25 (reserved)   £20 (reserved)   £11 (unreserved)   £5 (students)
