The Amersham Festival is committed to supporting young people and their music making. This year we are delighted to welcome back Buckinghamshire County Youth Orchestra (BCYO) playing one of the greatest symphonic works of the  20th century.

BCYO is a long-established and well regarded symphony orchestra, which recruits the best players from the county and beyond and gives them the opportunity to play together at a higher level than is possible in schools or music centres. The orchestra comprises around 70 pupils aged from 13 to 20. It rehearses throughout the year with its conductor, Tom Horn. Specialist instrumental teachers attend rehearsals to support the players. The orchestra has a strong reputation for high quality performance both at home and abroad, having enjoyed tours to Hungary, Norfolk and Iceland over the past three years. This year’s repertoire will include Sibelius’ Symphony No 2, Ravel’s Piano Concerto and Stravinsky’s Firebird.

BCYO are excited to be invited back to the Amersham Festival of Music as the main concert of their domestic season before touring to Prague in July 2019.
