Join us for a musical celebration of the New Year with a festive programme of Italian Baroque Concertos and other works.
We are fortunate in having an exceptional principal oboist in our Festival Chamber Orchestra, Christopher Hooker. It will be a great pleasure to hear him play the virtuosic Concerto in C major by Carlo Besozzi a composer much admired throughout Europe in the 18th century who greatly impressed Leopold Mozart when he performed in Salzburg in 1778.
Corelli’s Christmas Concerto is a superb masterpiece by this early baroque composer and an essential part of any Italian musical celebration of the festive season. The final Pastorale evokes the shepherds’ adoration of the Christ Child in music of exquisite tenderness and simplicity.
We also welcome back virtuoso recorder soloist Olwen Foulkes to perform two of Vivaldi’s wonderfully inventive and colourful Recorder Concertos.
Tickets: £ 20, £15 and £10. Students £5.
