Handel spent a large part of his long creative life in England, composing Italian operas for London theatres and his magnificent series of English Oratorios. Performances of these works were often interspersed with organ concertos in which Handel displayed his virtuosity and inventiveness. We feature two of these delightful works in this programme, along with a voluntary by Handel’s younger contemporary and friend, the blind organist John Stanley.
Our distinguished leader Charlotte Edwards will be joined by oboist Deborah Goodyer to perform Bach’s glorious Concerto for Violin and Oboe. We also feature a delightful rarity - the Viola Concerto in G major by Telemann, Bach’s friend and colleague in Leipzig, played by our esteemed principal viola player, Nicholas Evans-Pughe.
Tickets: £30 (premium seats, reserved) £25 (reserved) £20 (reserved) £11 (unreserved) £5 (students)
