Join us for a musical celebration of the New Year with a festive programme of Italian Baroque concertos and other works. Corelli’s Christmas Concerto is a splendid masterpiece by this early Baroque composer and an essential part of any Italian musical celebration of the festive season. The final Pastorale evokes the shepherds’ adoration of the Christ-child in music of exquisite tenderness and simplicity. The programme will also feature one of the hilarious early string sonatas by the young Rossini, sparkling early keyboard music by Frescobaldi, a fine cello concerto by Vivaldi and Corelli’s superb Violin Sonata in F major. We are delighted to welcome back the brilliant recorder player Olwen Foulkes to play virtuosic concertos by Vivaldi and Sammartini.
