Welcome to the Amersham Festival of Music website.
This year we have a wide variety of events for you, starting with JS Bach’s wonderful masterpiece, the B Minor Mass, sung by a choir and soloists from the Royal Academy of Music accompanied by the excellent Amersham Festival Chamber Orchestra.
At Chenies Manor Concert Royale will take us back to the Jane Austen era recreating the elegant sound world of the 18th century through historically informed performance. Early music is represented by the renowned group The Rose Consort of Viols with the singer Catherine King. Our annual Study Day with lunch will cover the life and music of Rimsky-Korsakov and his influence on other composers.
On the lighter side we shall enjoy an evening of Songs from the Shows from the highly successful Music Theatre Department at the Royal Academy of Music, sitting at tables and enjoying a glass or two of wine with cheese.
We actively encourage young music-makers, and this year we have four events: a Chiltern Youth Chamber Orchestra concert; a Young Artists Concert, this year given by two talented youngsters; a Flute Masterclass taken by Jennifer Stinton; and a Children's Percussion Extravaganza.
We hope that you will find much that appeals to you in this programme and look forward to seeing you - you will be assured of a warm and friendly welcome.
