Katy Smith (violin) is the 2011 winner of the Rickmansworth Young Musician of the Year Competition. After studying at the Yehudi Menuhin School she entered the Royal College of Music in 2010. She has received various prizes and was the runner up in the 2011 RCM violin competition. As well as playing in many concerto performances she is an enthusiastic chamber musician. She recently performed for the Stradivari Society in Chicago.

Fabian van de Geest (french horn) started playing the horn aged eleven with Anthony Catterick and won a place a year later as principal horn of the National Children’s Orchestra and two years after with the National Youth Wind Ensemble. Entering the North London Festival in 2009 he won first prize in the category Woodwind/Brass Solo. He is currently in his fourth year at the Purcell School learning with Susan Dent and he will be playing again this year with the National Youth Orchestra.

Joshua Hagley (piano) studies at the Purcell School and has performed and competed extensively. He has recently returned from Australia where he performed and took part in workshops. Joshua also studies violin and composition, and composed a fanfare that is regularly performed at the Royal Opera House. His ambition is to be a film composer.
