Each of the six Brandenburg Concertos has its own “sound world”, according to the instrumentation and individual colour of each work. The joyous and invigorating Concerto No 3 employs ten solo string players in a rich and virtuosic tapestry of sound. The more intimate Concerto No 6 gives prominence to the Viola players in what is a uniquely lyrical and reflective work. We also feature some exquisite dance music by Purcell and one of Handel’s great set of Concerti Grossi, Opus 6.
