MUSIC FOR FLUTE AND GUITAR

with

Richard Hand  (guitar)    Jennifer Stinton  (flute)

Hidden Tango

Flute and guitar is one of the most beguiling of musical combinations. Jennifer Stinton and Richard Hand, performers of international repute, play poetic and virtuosic music, much of it inspired by the Tango as well as other classical favourites. The programme includes music from their delightful new CD “Hidden Tango” which they launched at a recent Wigmore Hall recital – a combination of impressionistic French music and the more jazzy musical styles of South America including Histoire du Tango by that master of the tango, Astor Piazzolla.

“With his virtuoso technique Richard Hand makes a perfect partner for Jennifer Stinton’s superbly graceful, melodic playing” (Classical Guitar – reviewing their new CD).

Well known to Amersham Festival audiences, Jennifer Stinton is one of Britain’s leading flute players. Her recordings include concertos with the Philharmonia Orchestra, the English Chamber Orchestra and the Amsterdam Concertgebouw Orchestra.

Richard Hand has performed in over thirty countries as a guitar soloist or as half of the highly successful Hand–Dupré guitar duo. He has broadcast internationally on radio and television and recorded numerous CDs as well as giving the premieres of many works by leading contemporary composers.
