A varied programme of music played by two outstanding local young musicians


Henry Lindsay, 16, lives in Amersham and is a weekly border at the Purcell School where he studies tuba with Stephen Wick and voice with Tom Marandola. He is a member of the National Youth Orchestra and attends Junior Academy (at Royal Academy of Music), where this year his brass quintet won the Dame Ruth Railton Chamber Music Prize. Henry has reached the Finals stage of the BBC Young Musician of the Year competition and will be competing for a place in the Grand Final, which will be shown on BBC2 on May 11th.

Natasha Michael is 15 and is at Chesham High School. She attends the Junior Department of the Royal Academy of Music where she studies viola and composition. Last year Natasha won the junior section of the Lower Strings Prize and has recently joined the National Youth Orchestra as a composer. Many of Natasha's compositions have been publicy performed including by the Misbourne Symphony Orchestra.

Daniel Smith studied at the Royal Academy of Music with Vanessa Latarche, Piers Lane and Ruth Nye. While a student there he won many prizes for chamber music and was also a finalist in the BBC Young Musician of the Year. He is frequently official accompanist at auditions for the Philharmonia and RPO, for entrance auditions at the Royal College of Music and the NYO, and is currently also staff accompanist at Junior Academy and The Purcell School.
