The Quintet displays Schubert at his most relaxed and genial and includes a wonderful set of variations on his lovely song Die Forelle (the Trout) framed between outer movements full of virtuosity and high spirits. Oboist, Christopher Hooker is well known to Festival audiences as a superb concerto soloist and he will join the string players in Mozart’s elegant, exquisite Oboe Quartet as well as playing Poulenc’s hauntingly beautiful Sonata.
