“I simply follow my feelings”
Peter Medhurst presents a fascinating study day that examines two absorbing - and on occasions, opposing - aspects of the composer’s life. First he explores Mozart’s private world, which the composer shared with his family and closest friends. The world which, through surviving portraits, letters and reminiscences, allows the 21st century scholar insight into what made Mozart tick: his desires, successes, disappointments, and above all, his humanity. Then, in contrast, he examines Mozart’s public or professional world, which was the side of him seen by his audiences, colleagues and patrons - a public that was charmed, beguiled, amazed and even shocked by the force of his extraordinary musical ideas.
Peter Medhurst regularly presents workshops and study days on classical music and the arts to packed houses at locations both in the UK and abroad. His recent extravaganza on Mozart’s The Marriage of Figaro at the Royal Festival Hall was sold out months before the day. He is an accomplished singer, pianist and harpsichordist and this study day will include a selection of piano music and arias by Mozart.
Tickets: £25 (including a light lunch, a glass of wine and tea).
